Francis Marion University will offer two new courses, An Assessment of the Trump Presidency and The Swamp Fox in His Lair, free to the community as part of its Evening College program this fall. These courses are sponsored by Fred and Folly Carter as a public service offering in response to the overwhelming popularity of last yearโs community course.
An Assessment of the Trump Presidency will be taught by Dr. David White, Professor of Political Science at FMU. This course will assess the impact of President Trumpโs second term on the American political system and encourage participants to share their perspectives in discussion.
The Swamp Fox in His Lair: The Life and Exploits of General Francis Marion, taught by Dr. Scott Kaufman, Professor of History at FMU, will examine the life and actions of Marion before and during the American Revolutionary War, debunk Hollywood myths, and look at new findings about his life recently uncovered by archaeologists.
Each course will meet weekly for eleven weeks beginning the week of August 25. Both courses will be held in the Haigh Porter Auditorium in the Carter Center for Health Sciences located at 200 W. Evans Street in downtown Florence. The Swamp Fox in His Lair will be offered on Mondays from 6:00-7:30 pm, while An Assessment of the Trump Presidency will be offered on Tuesdays from 6:00-7:30 pm.
While there is no fee associated with the courses, those who wish to participate must enroll at www.fmarion.edu/eveningcollege. For additional information or to register, visit the Evening College website, email eveningcollege@fmarion.edu, or call 843-661-1281.
